Everything about The Reudigni totally explained

The Reudigni were one of the Nerthus-worshipping Germanic tribes mentioned by Tacitus in Germania. Schütte (External Link) suggests that the name should be read Rendingi or Randingi and then the name would be the same as the Rondings of Widsith. They have otherwise been lost to history, but they may have lived in Denmark prior to the arrival of the Daner recorded by Jordanes. Schütte suggests that their name lives on in the name Randers and Randsfjord, Denmark. » After the Langobardi come the Reudingi, Auiones, Angli, Varni, Eudoses, Suarines and Nuithones all well guarded by rivers and forests. There is nothing remarkable about any of these tribes unless it be the common worship of Nerthus, that's Earth Mother. They believe she's interested in men's affairs and drives among them. On an island in the ocean sea there's a sacred grove wherein waits a holy wagon covered by a drape. (Germania by Tacitus)
